What is adaptive cycling?
Adaptive cycling is riding bicycles, trikes or quads built with alternative structure or modified and adapted to fulfill the specific needs of the rider.

Riding a bike is a special right or passage. It provides mobility, exercise, combats obesity, gets riders out into their community, and provides a sense of joy and freedom. For people with disabilities riding a bike may seem impossible but adaptive bicycles allow riders to experience the ride just like every other person.

Riders may have cognitive disabilities such as autism and down syndrome or sight impairment that may prevent them from riding safely on their own, or physical disabilities that may make it difficult to propel or steer a bicycle. Some riders may have balance issues or fear of falling due to injuries, disabilities or age.

At Bikes For Every Body, we believe that cycling promotes inclusion and that there are bicycles for riders of all ages, sizes and abilities - a bike for EVERY BODY!

Our growing site will be your one-stop directory for learning about the available adaptive and alternative bikes, trikes, and accessories. You will be able to find places and events to see, test ride, and rent or buy the bikes along with information on how to find funding for these special, and sometimes costly bikes.
This adaptive cycling directory will help health care professionals who may prescribe these bikes for riders with disabilities, to find appropriate adaptive equipment, as well as bike dealers who are trying to help their customers find alternative bicycles for their special needs.
