Recumbent bikes are 2-wheel bikes and recumbent trikes are 3-wheel bikes that are in a laid back or reclining position. The rider weight is distributed over a larger area for more comfort and support and less pressure on joints, feet and ankles. Recumbent trikes have a wider wheel base which provides stability. Adaptive accessories help accommodate a variety of physical needs.

There are 3 main categories of trikes: recreational, therapeutic and racing. While many people think trikes are for senior riders only, there are many trikes built for competition and speed.
